Speaker, writer, and advocate

Prior to consulting, I worked in a level-1 trauma center where I watched people’s worst nightmares happen in real time, each day, without any notice.  Not surprisingly, those 8+ years I struggled with undiagnosed and untreated PTSD.  When I finally sought treatment, I did not benefit from pharmaceuticals or other standard forms of therapy.  As a final resort, my intuition led me to trying nearly every form of treatment (including psychedelic therapy) discussed in a book I had not yet read called The Body Keeps the Score.  After years of suffering, these somatic treatments allowed me to experience relief and reconnect with the emotional and creative parts that I had repressed.  My personal experiences and professional background inspire me to share my story and advocate for these forms of treatment—especially for veterans, healthcare, and front-line workers.

Storyteller, actor, and the like…

I am an 8-time storyteller at NPR’s The Moth, and improvisational acting has taught me as much about my nervous system as therapy.  As a coach, I’m inspired to share what I’ve learned in science, medicine, and the creative arts to support individuals in building awareness and improving their performance and health.
